About
I'm Rachel Daman, I have been practising yoga for many years - initially using it as a tool for relaxation backstage when I was a nervous professional synchronised swimmer.
I qualified in Hatha yoga at a time when yoga was not mainstream or as popular as it is today and I have seen many changes to its evolution. As I also matured I found that traditional yoga was not meeting my body's needs and some classic yoga poses felt 'off' and left me feeling uncomfortable.
Exploration around aging, hormonal changes and menopause led me to seek a more functional base to my own practice and teaching. I trained in LYT yoga with Physiotherapist and Yoga Instructor Lara Heiman and now have a greater understanding about anatomy and physiology that supports a more intentional and intelligent practice.
I gained a scholarship with Exhale to Inhale and trained in Trauma-Informed Yoga and studied Mindfulness and Meditation to teacher level with Dr Itai Ivtzan of Postive Psychology.
With these skills I spent nine years as a yoga teacher with the Priory Group, working with people recovering from trauma and supporting mental wellbeing - experience that deeply informs my trauma-informed approach today.
I am committed to providing an autistic-friendly and neurodiverse-aware space where everyone can feel supported and safe, please contact me if I can help make your experience more comfortable.
